RFF 2015

6 labels presented their collections at the Reykjavik Fashion Festival aka RFF No.6.

SIGGA MAIJA, JÖR, ANOTHER KREATION, EYLAND, MAGNEA and SCINTILLA had runway shows produced by ATELIER KONTRAST at the amazing concert house HARPA at the seaside.

Wolfram Glatz is the creative director and owner of the Germany based design agency ATELIER KONTRAST, which produced the whole shows during the Reykjavik Fashion Festival aka RFF.

ATELIER KONTRAST is a full-service-design agency for fashion/gastronomy/lifestyle-brands. They go from the idea over the concept to production of shows, exhibitions,retail-design to cooperate idendities.

Some impressions of Hildur Yeoman Show during Design March 2015

 

Hildur´s press information to the show:
Hildur Yeoman graduated as a fashion designer from the Icelandic Art Academy in 2006. She has always been a drawer and a storyteller, she makes a magic world with each collection based on her inspiration. After graduation her collection of crochet accessories and illustrations got very popular. She then went from focusing on accessories to making clothes as well. Her attention is on handmade details like her illustrated prints, embroidery or crochet.
She has recently been chosen as Icelands fashion designer of the year for the year 2014.
Her newest collection Flóra is an ode to Icelandic sorcery, the power of the plants and the women who know how to use them so they can fix a scar on the soul or seduce a heart. She worked with an Icelandic witchdoctor on the prints so each print has a special purpose for the person wearing the garment.
The collection was exhibited at an old school in the center of Reykjavík were some of Iceland´s cultural power players took part in the show. An all girl rock band, dancers from the Icelandic dance company, artist and some of Hildurs muses turned in to witches in a powerful performance that had as much to do with feminism as it did with magic.
Superstylist Edda Gudmunds flew in from Paris to style the show and the makeup artist is Ísak Freyr, he used parts of my fabrics to create the makeup along with l´oreal cosmetics.

RFF 2013

Seven brands from Iceland celebrated their most upcoming talents and therewith the local fashion scene at “Reykjavík Fashion Festival”. Special guest was the renowned photographer Roxanne Lowit from New York who exhibited selected works of her fashion and portrait photography at the Harpa Concert House in Reykjavik. At the same time my “The New Black”-Series were shown and I knew how to use the spare time properly and documented the festival.

It is located 4.200 kilometer away from New York, 2.600 kilometer from Paris and 2.800 kilometer from Milan: Iceland. Thinking about this island in the high north with its rough landscapes, volcanoes, geysers and glaciers there is not much that relates to fashion. But someone will find two things characteristic in the small streets of Reykjavik: The individual style of the icelandic women and the number of boutiques that feature local fashion. In the context of the Reykjavik Fashion Festival 22 designer showed there collections to an international audience, such as Vera, Rey oder Mundi – names as short as Iceland‘s history in fashion, but big in new impulses for the deadlocked fashion industry.
